Tourist Visa

Tourist visa is granted to foreigners whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, meeting friends or relatives, attending a short term yoga programme, short duration medical treatment including treatment under Indian systems of medicine, short term courses in local languages, music, dance, arts & crafts, cooking, medicine etc. which should not be a formal or structured course/programme (courses not exceeding 6 months duration and not issued with a qualifying certificate/diploma etc.) and voluntary work of short duration (for a maximum period of one month, which does not involve any monetary payment or consideration of any kind in return) etc. and no other purpose/activity.
Please note:
  • It is at the discretion of the High Commission of India, Malaysia to grant you a visa which could be valid for less than one year.
  • Tourist Visas are non-extendable and non-convertible

  • APPLICATION WITH FALSE & INCORRECT INFORMATION WIL BE REJECTED.
  • The form has to be filled in electronically and it cannot be handwritten. the form is available on the following link indianvisaonline.gov.in
  • Form to be signed at two places; below the photograph and last page by the applicant only
  • The signature on the application form has to match the passport or the form will be rejected at the India Visa Centre.
  • Address of referees in Malaysia and India to be furnished in detail.
  • Additional form (NON-RESIDENTIAL FORM) to be filled in for applicants born in China & Pakistan or descendant of Pakistan.
  • The applicant must be in person during submission for biometric registration. Children below 12 years old and adult above 70 years are exempted from biometric enrolment and their applications may be submitted by a representative. If it is stated at the bottom of the second page “Biometrics Not Required till a date is mentioned, the applicant is exempted from biometrics till then.
  • Journalists: If an applicant is a journalist, then the applicant will be issued a Journalist visa even if the purpose of travel is tourism, holiday or meeting friends and relatives.
  • Birth certificate in case of minor applicant along with copy of parent's passports.
  • Foreign passport holder in Malaysia may apply for Indian Visa in Malaysia. All visa application is subject to approval.
  • For foreign passport holder in Malaysia, waiting period for visa application status (to know either application is approved or rejected) takes minimum 5 working days. In some cases, it could take more than 7 working days & neither prior notice nor from date will be given in advance to visa applicant on application outcome on either approved or rejected by the High Commission of India. Therefore, booking a flight ticketbefore obtaining a visa is not advisable.
